Acting
Michele is appearing in a recurring role as  hard-edged military wife Cynthia Burdett on the CBS series, The Unit.

Michele recently appeared in the multi-media operetta Charlotte: Life or Theatre? at the Met Theatre in Los Angeles. The tragic but uplifting story of young German painter Charlotte Solomon combined music, prose and paintings to detail the triumph of art and hope over the despair  and violence of Nazism in WW2.

Writing
The paperback of Chasing The Jaguar will be released in April of 2008 on the Harper Collins/Rayo imprint. Look for it in stores and online.

An interactive website (martikagalvezmysteries.com) will be up and running soon with character profiles and contact info, cool facts about the Maya, writing/art projects and all the upcoming news on Martika and her friends as they get into another exciting L.A. mystery!

Michele is currently working on the next book in the Martika Gálvez series, Night of the Jaguar. It delves into the dramatic history of the wealthy landowning Mexicans or Californios who founded the city of Los Angeles and the ghost of a troubled young woman that haunts Griffith Park.

Michele will be featured in an upcoming summer issue of Writer’s Digest. Journalist/novelist Michael Vaughn talks to Latino writers about their work and the ever expanding Latino literary market.

Workshops/School Visits/Conferences
Michele is running the ongoing writing workshop at El Centro del Pueblo in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The El Centro Young Writers Workshop will publish its first journal of original work by local teenagers in March of 2008. Check this site for the download in March!

On February 21st Michele will be speaking to students and signing books at Lynwood High School in conjunction with the University of Irvine and Libreria Martinez..

Michele will be the keynote speaker at The California Writing Project on March 6th in Long Beach, California. CWP hosts a pre-convention day of workshops before the yearly gathering of the California Association of Teachers of English. The theme of this years CWP is Writing the Winds of Change.

In April Michele will be presenting at the Taft High School Passport to Reading conference.

Music
Michele performed songs from Luna Roja recently at the Eagle Rock Music Festival on the World Music stage with her Latin band featuring Ciro Hurtado, Ruben Izquierdo and Julio Ledesma.

Michele’s newly formed Americana band, Johnny Cat, will begin club dates in early 2008. Check this site for listings and information.

The upcoming documentary, Border Echoes, features Michele’s song Ciudad Juarez. Look for it in festivals around the country and on PBS.
